Miscreants loot cash, valuables from 5 places in Harinavi

Kolkata: A gang of unidentified miscreants decamped with valuables from five places including a nationalized bank and post office in South 24-Parganas' Harinavi.
This morning, locals of the area found main gates of some of the offices and shops broken and informed police. The police went to the spot and initiated a probe in this connection.
Police are yet to ascertain the exact number of miscreants who are involved in the crime but suspect that all were members of the same gang and have undertaken the operation following a proper plan of action.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the miscreants had raided the place at around 2 am on Sunday and continued the operation in six places within an area for around two hours.
They have targetted a bank, post office, cooking gas shop and jewellery shop. Several things were found strewn on the floor of the offices.
The police collected samples from the spot to identify the miscreants.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused did a recce of the place and had identified the offices where they would enter at the dead of the night to decamp with valuables.
The members of the gang got divided into small groups and carried out the operation in all the places simultaneously.
According to police, at least some members of the gang are well aware about all the escape routes from the place of occurrence. Police have collected footages of surveillance cameras in the area and spoke to people to know whether they had seen anyone moving around the place suspiciously.
Cops are also suspecting that the gang belongs to somewhere in South 24-Parganas and they had fled to the extreme remote part of the district after committing the crime.
