Minor sexually assaulted at Bantala

Kolkata: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at Bantala in Kolkata Leather Complex police station area on the southern fringes of the city.

Police are yet to arrest the accused in this connection.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim girl came to Anandapur to stay in the house of her sister-in-law for some days and to visit a fair organised in the area.

The girl was all alone in the house when the accused, Billu Mali, a local resident of the area, took her outside saying that she was being called by her sister-in-law. The girl was then allegedly sexually assaulted.

The matter came to light when the victim's relatives found her in a traumatised state. She was initially not in a condition to speak. Later, she narrated the incident to her relatives. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the Kolkata Leather Complex police station against the accused.

The police went to the spot, but by that time the accused had managed to flee.

In another incident, a 17-year-old girl was sexually harassed in a moving auto-rickshaw.

The incident took place when she was returning home from her tuition classes in the auto-rickshaw on

Kaikhali-Rajarhat route.

It has been alleged that the accused had been constantly trying to disturb the girl while travelling in the auto-rickshaw. Finally, she cried for help when she was sexually harassed.

Locals informed the police and the accused Md Munna was arrested.
