Minor girl raped by kin inside Fort William

Kolkata: A minor girl was allegedly raped by one of her distant relatives on the Fort William premises a few days ago. Cops arrested the accused persons after the complaint was lodged at the Maidan police station on Sunday.

After producing him at the Bankshall Court, concerned magistrate remanded the accused to police custody till June 24. According to sources, the girl's father is a Group D staff at Fort William. They used to live at Army's Eastern Command HQ. The accused person had come to visit his sister who worked and lived in Fort William. He used to visit the girl's house almost regularly. It is alleged that on Saturday evening, between 6 pm to 8 pm, the 11-year-old girl was alone at her home as her parents had gone to the market. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused went to her home and raped her. When her parents came back home they found the girl crying and bleeding. The girl narrated the whole incident to them.

Later on Sunday morning, the girl's mother lodged a complaint against the accused relative at the Maidan police station. As soon as the complaint was filed, cops initiated a case against the accused under sections 376(2)(f) (commits rape on a woman when she is under twelve years of age) of the IPC and 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and arrested him.

Sources informed apart from the police investigation, military police will also probe the matter.
