Minor abducted a week ago rescued from Patna

Maternal uncle of victim held for alleged involvement in kidnapping

Kolkata: The Anti-Rowdy Squad (ARS) of Kolkata Police have rescued a 15-year-old boy from Patna and arrested two persons, including the maternal uncle of the victim, late on Saturday night from Jajha in Bihar.

According to sources, the boy had gone missing since April 14. Later, a missing diary was lodged at the Jorasanko police station with the boy's description and photo.

The situation took a serious turn when his family members started receiving ransom calls from Bihar.

After four days of his abduction kidnappers called his family members and demanded a ransom of Rs 30 lakh. It is also alleged that the kidnappers had threatened to kill the boy if they did not pay the money.

Immediately, victim's family informed the police about the ransom calls.

As per advice of the police, victim's family members started bargaining with the kidnappers. Later, the ransom amount was fixed in Rs 15 lakh. Kidnappers instructed the boy's father to pay the ransom at a place in Bihar and told him to reach Asansol as soon as possible.

Immediately, a team from Anti-Rowdy Squad along with the boy's father went to Asansol at 8 pm. After reaching Asansol, kidnappers instructed the victim's father to go to Jasidih. After reaching Jasidih the kidnappers told him to go to Jhaja in Bihar early on Sunday morning.

After reaching Jhaja, they told the him to follow the railway track to a lonely place near the station and leave the bag. But, after reaching the delivery spot, he could not spot anyone.

Kidnappers told him to leave the bag there and wait for their call at the station.

He along with other police personnel waited for the call by hiding themselves.

After a while, the victim's father saw two persons arrived and took the bag with them.

One of them was his brother-in-law Manish Kumar Chowrasia. Seeing his brother-in-law, the victim's father screamed and both the accused persons were caught red-handed.

Later, sleuths came to know Chowrasia and the victim himself had allegedly hatched the plan of abduction to extract money.

After interrogating Chowrasia and other accused was identified as Sumit Kumar Dubey, sleuths recovered the boy from Patna on Sunday.

The father of the victim works in a private company and resides in Kango for his job for a considerable time in the year.
