Middle-aged woman beaten up over property claims

The incident took place in North 24-Parganas' Nimta. It came to light when a neighbour shot a video when the woman, Gita Saha, was being beaten up by her sister Rita Saha, her son and daughter-in-law. Gita is mentally challenged and suffering from different ailments. A few days ago, Rita came to Gita's house and started staying along with her son and daughter-in-law. They told the neighbours that they had come just to look after Gita, who has no one. But within a few days, the neighbours found that Gita used to cry loudly. Initially, they didn't understand the reason behind it. Later, they found out that she was being beaten up by her sister, her son and daughter-in-law.

The neighbours approached the police. Before the police could take any step, a neighbour shot the video when she was being beaten up mercilessly. After knowing about the incident, policemen from Nimta police station went to the spot and detained Rita. Locals urged police to take necessary steps against the accused. Rita's son, however, managed to flee.
