Metro services disrupted after train develops snag

Kolkata: A disruption in metro services caused inconvenience to commuters during the rush hour on Monday morning.
The service had to be disrupted as snag had developed in a train in between Kavi Subhas and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar metro stations.
It was around 10 am when commuters travelling in a metro suddenly noticed that the train stopped. Later, they came to know that snag developed in the train and it resulted in the disruption of services.
The passengers in the train had to come out of it at Netaji Station and had to opt for another mode of transport to reach their destinations.
There were hundreds of people standing at different metro stations during the morning rush hours due to the disruption in metro services in between Kavi Subhas and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar metro stations.
Finding no other way out to reach their destinations on time, people were found gathering outside metro stations to get some other modes of transport. Some have chosen to take buses to reach offices while many were found sharing taxis. Metro authorities have pressed engineers to action on an immediate basis and they worked to repair the snag as early as possible.
It may be mentioned that metro has turned out to be very essential for thousands of people to reach offices and return home on a regular basis. So, in case there is disruption of metro services for any reason, thousands of people face inconvenience.
Though in the past six years the road condition and traffic management have improved manifold, one would always take more time in reaching their destination by road compared to that of the time needed if one travels by metro.
