Metro services disrupted

Kolkata: Metro services was disrupted during office hours on Monday morning, when passengers agitated at Sovabazar Metro station after air-conditioning facilities in a compartment stopped functioning.
Sources said that the passengers were asked to vacate a compartment of the New Garia bound rake, after the air-conditioning facilities, as well as the lights in the compartment, stopped working soon after the train left Shyambazar station.
An announcement was immediately made to vacate the compartment at Sovabazar and board the next train, or if possible, accommodate themselves in the other compartments of the same train.
However, the passengers alighted at the station at around 9.58 am and started agitating. The train was stranded in the down line at the station for over 23 minutes, after the metro officials along with RPF personnel managed to pacify the passengers.
The rake was removed and taken to the carshed. Services in the down line resumed at around 10.21 am. MPOST
