MeT dept predicts rain in South Bengal for two days

Kolkata: The Regional Meteorological Department at Alipore has predicted heavy rainfall in some of the South Bengal districts in next two days. Some parts of the city may also witness light to moderate rain on Sunday.
According to the weather office, a low pressure trough has been formed in the coastal areas of Odisha which will be further intensified on Sunday bringing in some more rain in the South Bengal districts. Apart from Bengal, various other states will also receive rainfall due to the formation of low pressure trough.
It has been learnt that the low pressure trough is likely to move towards the Western direction giving respite to the people of the state. The prediction said that apart from Kolkata, the coastal districts may also receive rainfall in the next two days. Meanwhile, it may be mentioned that the city has received light rainfall in some parts on Saturday afternoon. But the rain hardly had any major impact on the city-dwellers apart from traffic congestion on some roads.
The traffic movement in some parts of the city was little slow due to rain. Senior police officers rushed to various important intersections to manage traffic. The
traffic movement gradually came to a normal. Some parts of North 24 Parganas and other adjoining districts
also received rainfall on Saturday disrupting normal lives of the people.
