Medical student dies after falling from roof

Kolkata: A second-year medical student died after he fell from the roof of a five-storied building on Wednesday night.

It is suspected the youth committed suicide because of some reasons which is related to the students with whom he studied at the college.

According to the police, the deceased youth identified as, Subhojit Majhi, (22) used to reside in a flat on CIT Road in Beliaghata .

Majhi, who was originally from East Burdwan, was pursing MBBS at the NRS medical College and Hospital. At present, he was in the second year of the medical course. On Wednesday night around 8:40 pm, a few residents of the building came out after hearing a loud thud on the the ground. They saw Majhi lying in a pool of blood. Immediately, he was rushed to the NRS Hospital but around 11:30 pmMajhi succumbed to his injuries.

A source said he was in depression for past few months due to unknown reasons.

His family members suspect he might had some issues with the NRS Medical College where he was studying as recently he used to get absent in the class frequently and stayed at home.

To find the reason why he was not attending classes, police may question his friends and other students. An Unnatural Death case has been registered at the Beliaghata police station in this connection.
