MBA student's body found hanging in hostel

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of an MBA student whose body was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside her hostel room on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Suravi Suman who was undergoing a management course at the private college in Durgapur. Hailing from Bihar's Muzaffarpur, Suravi was currently staying at the college hostel.

On Sunday morning, some of the hostel inmates found her body hanging from the ceiling fan and immediately informed the hospital authorities who in turn called up the local police station. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Durgapur Sub-Divisional hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have recovered the mobile phone of Suravi from the spot.

Police said that she was a second year student. The victim's classmates told the police that she was a good student and used to remain in a jovial mood and they never expected that she could commit suicide. Police came to know in the investigation that the victim was not mingling with the other hostel mates for the

last couple of days.

According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the victim might have committed suicide following some mental depression. The reason of her mental depression was not, however, divulged by the police yet. Police are looking into all possible angles into the incident. They are not, however, ruling out the possibility of foul play. They are investigating if anybody had instigated her to commit suicide.

Police are also investigating if some jilted romantic relationship had forced the victim to commit suicide. The victim's family members have been informed. A senior official of the private college in Durgapur expressed his shock over the incident saying that they did not understand why the victim had taken such a drastic step.

Police have started a probe in this connection and interrogated some of her hostel inmates with whom she used to spend the maximum time. Police have also collected samples from the place of the incident.
