Mayor, Deputy Mayor attend Bidhannagar board meeting

Kolkata: The board meeting of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was held on Wednesday, with Mayor Sabyasachi Dutta attending it. Deputy Mayor Tapas Chatterjee and chairperson Krishna Chakraborty were present in the meeting as well.

Thirty five BMC councillors have moved a no-confidence motion against Dutta for his anti-party activities. They have submitted a letter to the chairperson in this regard on Tuesday. Chakraborty has sent it to the joint municipal commissioner. The discussion on the no-confidence motion is likely to be held on July 18.

The twin issues of licences issued by BMC and municipal markets and their maintenance in Salt Lake were discussed in the meeting.

The meeting was presided over by the Mayor.

There was no heated exchange between the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, as apprehended by many.

It may be recalled that the anti-party statements of the Mayor have embarrassed Trinamool Congress on several occasions earlier.
