Mask Garden undergoing major overhaul at Eco Park

Kolkata: The Mask Garden at Eco Park is undergoing a major facelift and will be made more attractive to children.
Eco Park, the country's biggest urban park with 480 acres of land surrounded by 105 acres of waterbody, is a new tourist destination in New Town. Eco Park has space for everyone, from the elderly people to children.
There is a zone where people ride bicycles, especially in tandem, with children. There is a replica of Ghoom Railway Station and the Japanese Garden, with a pagoda and wish tank.
The miniature replicas of the seven wonders of the world and the Sculpture Garden are unique to this park.
The footfall at the park has crossed the 1 crore mark, since its inception four years ago.
It may be mentioned that masks are associated with the culture and tradition of many South and North Bengal districts. The mask industry had suffered badly as many of the mask artisans had left the profession.
After coming to power in 2011, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave special attention to revive the traditional form of art. Rabindra Bharati University is setting up a mask museum. The Mask Garden will have more attractive masks and the whole area has been given a facelift.
