Marathon walk in city to commemorate Paryatan Parv

Kolkata: A 'Marathon Walk' from Kolkata Town Hall was held to celebrate the commencement of 'Paryatan Parv 2017'. The event is part of the initiative of the Union Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with other Central ministries and state governments that kicked off 'Paryatan Parv 2017' across the country on Thursday The event will be observed till October 25.
The objective of this programme is to draw focus on the benefits of tourism, showcasing the cultural diversity of the country and reinforce the principle of 'Tourism for All' and this objective beautifully complements the vision and mission of HRAEI (Hotel & Restaurant Association of Eastern India).
J P Shaw, Regional Director (East), of the Union Tourism Ministry, presided over the event in the city, ace actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty was present as the chief guest, while Sudesh Poddar, president HRAEI and many other dignitaries were also present.
Sudesh Poddar, President, HRAEI, said: "We are very happy to collaborate with this unique initiative of the Ministry of Tourism. The hotel and restaurant industry in the eastern region is well prepared to provide world class experience to both domestic and foreign tourists. Our capacity to accommodate and serve more people has steadily been increasing. We need to make the Eastern Region comprising 12 states and a union territory a flourishing destination for domestic and foreign tourists by projecting their captivating tourism assets."
Poddar is hopeful that initiatives like the 'Paryatan Parv' across the year will help us reach out to a wider section of people.
