Manoj Sinha refuses to inaugurate party office, BJP supporters stage protest

Kolkata: Some unruly BJP supporters from Garulia in North 24-Parganas on Monday staged a demonstration in front of the Union minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha after he refused to inaugurate a party office.
Earlier in the day, the Union minister had attended a party meeting at Noapara in the same district. While he was leaving the area, some of the local BJP leaders urged him to inaugurate a party office in Garulia. But the minister readily turned down their request. His party activists requested him to get down from the car after he got inside. As he did not come out of the car some of the local BJP leaders stopped his car and staged a demonstration.
The Union minister was visibly angry at the incident. His car remained stuck for a few minutes. Later, police reached the spot and dispersed the mob. The minister told his party supporters that he did not know about the inauguration and he visited the spot only to take part in the organisational meeting.
It has been learnt that the party office has allegedly come up on a disputed land. The minister might have refused to inaugurate the party office after he came to know about the matter.
The local Trinamool Congress leaders have alleged that a case is going on over the disputed land. Section 144 has been enforced on the land by the court order and hence none can use the land. The local Trinamool Congress also raised questions on how BJP activists can set up their party office on a disputed land, particularly when the matter is pending at the court.
It has also been learnt that local municipality registered a compliant at the local police station in this regard.
