Man wanted in police outpost fire arrested

Darjeeling: One Dawa Sherpa was arrested on Wednesday afternoon while trying to board a flight to Delhi from Bagdogra Airport by the CID. He was wanted in connection with the clashes that took place resulting in a police outpost being set on fire along with Sonada Railway Station.
Sherpa is a resident of Lower Birbity, Birpara, Alipurduar district. On July 8 last year, GJM and GNLF supporters had clashed with the security forces over the death of one Tashi Bhutia allegedly in police firing at Sonada, 16 km from Darjeeling town, after which the police outpost was burnt down. Sherpa was wanted in several other cases.
