Man stabs wife, kills self

Kolkata: A person committed suicide after stabbing his wife late on Sunday night at Dholahat in South 24 Parganas. On Monday morning local residents came to know about the incident and informed police after admitting the woman to a hospital.

According to a local resident, Swapan Debnath, 48, used to reside with his wife Sukkari Debnath at his in-law's house at Bhimnagar in Dholahat. Debnath family's neighbours claimed that there use to regular altercations between them often over some family problems.On Monday morning, the neighbours found Sukkari lying in a pool of blood.

After Sukkari was sent to hospital, a few local residents started searching for Swapan. A few minutes later they discovered Swapan hanging from the ceiling of a pump room located on a agricultural land near his

home. When Sukkarai was taken to hospital, she stated that Swapan had stabbed

her multiple times. An unnatural death case has been registered at the Dholahat police station.
