Man shot at in Howrah, 1 held

Kolkata: A man was shot at in Howrah on Sunday morning. The injured person ran a construction business in the area. According to sources, on Sunday morning, Nemai Dey, reached Baksara Bazar near Santragachhi. When he was buying some grocery items, two miscreants on a bike fired two rounds at him and fled. One of the bullets slightly touched Dey's head. Locals rushed Dey to Howrah District Hospital.

Later, the police went to the spot and to know what exactly happened. While probing the case, sleuths came to know Dey had recently started a construction business in the area.

Earlier, he was involved in several crimes and associated with anti-social groups. Several cases are reportedly pending against him. It is suspected that Dey was attacked over some business rivalry. Police are checking the CCTV camera footage in the area to identify the culprits. A case has been initiated on charges of attempt to murder (307 IPC) and under sections of Arms Act. One of the accused identified as Arun Saha, who is from South Baksara, was arrested on Sunday night.
