Man murders wife, kills self

Kolkata: In a tragic incident, a husband committed suicide after killing his wife. The incident took place in Howrah's Liluah on Friday night triggering tension among the local residents.

Police said that the victim Raju Singh, a state government employee committed suicide by the shooting on his head after strangulating his wife to death. After being informed, the police reached the spot and recovered two bodies from their residence at Liluah area.

According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that Singh might have taken the drastic step as he had a huge debt burden on him. The victim had been suffering from depression for quite a long time. The locals told the police that the husband used to involve in quarrels with his wife over the expenses of the family.

It was learnt that the couple used to stay lavishly for which the victim used to borrow money from people. The local residents told the police that for the past few months the money lenders were visiting his house for money. As a result of this Singh was under tremendous mental pressure. A quarrel broke out between the couple.
