Man found dead in Maniktala

Kolkata: An unidentified youth was found dead inside a club at Muraripukur in Maniktala on Wednesday. It is alleged that some local residents thought the youth was a thief and beat him to death.

According to sources, on Wednesday morning, a few local residents suspected a man, who was roaming aimlessly in their area, to be a thief.

They allegedly dragged him to a local club and started beating him using cricket bats, wickets and bamboo sticks.

When he fell unconscious, the attackers left the club. Meanwhile, someone from the locality informed Maniktala police station about the incident.

Police officers went to the spot and rushed the injured youth to R. G. Kar Medical College and Hospital where doctor declared him dead on arrival. Later, homicide section of Detective Department went to the spot. Sniffer dog was also brought to identify the accused persons. In the afternoon, three persons were detained on suspicion. Identity of the deceased is still unknown.
