Man arrested for trying to sexually assault girl on pretext of job

Kolkata: The Burtolla police station on Thursday arrested a person for trying sexually assault a girl in his apartment at Gourishankar Lane in North Kolkata on Wednesday night.

Rana Dey, who owns a beauty parlour, was arrested on the basis of the complaint of the victim. It has been learnt that the girl was called with false promises of a job in a beauty parlour.

Sources said that the girl, a resident of Dankuni, had come all the way to the city with her mother after seeing an advertisement of recruitment in a beauty parlour on the Internet.

The girl, who had experience of such jobs, was confident of bagging it and went to the address of the accused as the latter had told her over phone.

while her mother was locked in another room while the accused molested

the victim and then tried to sexually assault her.

The girl somehow managed to escape and informed the police of the incident.

The girl alleged that the accused had even threatened her of dire consequences if she told anybody about the incident.

According to sources, the girl who hailed from Dankuni in Hooghly was not well aware of the jurisdiction of the area and first went to Girish Park police station for lodging a compliant and was directed to lodge it with Burtolla police station.

The police, however, initiated action immediately after receiving the complaint and the accused was nabbed.
