Man arrested for sexually abusing minors

The incident took place in Mistripara area in Chalkvrigu under Balurghat police station in South Dinajpur.

Ajit Sarkar (50), the arrested person, is a carpenter residing in Mistripara.

Police said medical tests of the minors, who are aged between 5 and 7, have already been conducted to prove the allegation of sexual harassment being raised against the suspect. Local sources informed Sarkar had conducted the crime in absence of their family members on Sunday. The matter has, however, came to light on Monday.

Locals beat up Sarkar before handing him over to police. Police said Sarkar confessed his crime already. Locals said Sarkar was involved in similar type of crime earlier as well.

Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) against him.
