Man arrested for impersonating Bikram Chatterjee on Facebook

Kolkata: The Cyber Crime Police Station of Kolkata Police on Thursday night apprehended a person from Nadia for allegedly creating a fake Facebook profile of actor Bikram Chatterjee. Posing as the actor, the person had posted inappropriate comments that was allegedly maligning the image of the actor.
Sleuths acting on the complaint of the actor that was lodged through e-mail just before the Durga Puja tracked the accused Subrata Roy to his house in Nadia and arrested him.
It is learnt that Chatterjee who is presently in Mumbai for professional reasons was apprised of the issue when one of his close friends asked him whether he had befriended any lady through her Facebook recently.
When the actor denied, his friend said that she had come across a girl in his Facebook page who had claimed to be chatting with the actor. He soon checked his own profile and realising that it was an attempt to malign his image sought the intervention of the cops. Chatterjee also stated in his complaint that it seemed to him that the person who had created the fake profle was chatting with a number of girls on a regular basis.
Most of the girls who had fallen in the trap were mature and highly qualified. Even phone numbers and other personal details were exchanged through the fake profile of the actor.
Bikram Chatterjee, who was arrested in connection with the death of model Sonika Chauhan in a road accident, was granted conditional bail by the Alipore sessions court in July. Sonika was killed in a car accident on April 29, while returning from a party along with Chatterjee. Chatterjee, who was driving Toyota Corolla Altis in an alleged inebriated state had sustained injuries during the accident.
