Kolkata: Mystery shrouds an attempt to murder of a ten-year-old child at Rakhal Ghosh Lane in Beliaghata on Saturday morning. Rajesh Mishra (name changed) was hit with a boti by one of his neighbours. The police arrested one Jiten Singh, the neighbour of the boy on charges of attempt to murder that was lodged by the family of the victim.
Sources said that the accused had come from Bihar and has been staying at the Beliaghata residence of his grandmother for the last two
months. The boy and his younger sister would often go to play at the residence of Singh who lived just adjacent to their residence.
The brother and sister were called in the morning by the accused to play. After sometime, it was found that the girl came back with blood spots all over her dress. Suspecting something foul, the girl's mother along with some other neighbours rushed to Singh's house and started asked him where the boy was. The boti was also found beside the boy with blood all over it. The boy informed that
Singh had hit him with it. Mishra was rushed to NRS hospital.
Meanwhile, the local people caught the accused and informed the Beliaghata police who reached the spot and arrested him. "We are still in the dark about the reason that triggered the incident," an officer of Beliaghata police station said.
