Man accused in 27 cheating cases held

Kolkata: A man was arrested at the Bidhannagar North police station on Monday for allegedly duping a person by promising a flat in Baranagar area.

The accused person identified as Aditya Lal Mukherjee of AE block in Salt Lake is accused in 27 cheating cases.

According to the police, on Sunday, a person identified as Pabitra Mukherjee of Singur in Hooghly lodged a complaint at the Bidhannagar North police station stating that he has been duped by Aditya worth

Rs 10 lakh in the name of providing a flat in Baranagar. Based on the complaint, police on Monday arrested Aditya from his residence.

He was produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM), Bidhannagar and has been remanded to police custody till September 30.

Sources informed that Aditya was arrested multiple times for his involvement in many cheating cases.

At present, 27 cases of cheating are pending against him. It is alleged he made more than Rs 100 crore by cheated people.

He used to publish advertisement in newspapers and posed as a realtor. If any person used to contact him, Aditya allegedly used to convince him to arrange for a flat in very low rate.

After the customers were convinced, he used to demand money. After getting the amount he demanded, Aditya used to stop all sorts of communication with the clients.
