Mamata visits ailing Buddhadeb Bhattacharya

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called on Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee at his Palm Avenue residence on Thursday evening.
Banerjee came around 6.16pm and left around 6.57 pm.
She told the reporters who had gathered at the state run housing complex in south Kolkata that she had come to inquire about Bhattacharjee's health and was happy to see that he is keeping well. His eye treatment is on.
"We talked about music and books. Buddhababu loves to listen to music and read books. I also spoke to boudi"
Banerjee was received by Meera Bhattacharya, wife of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee who took her inside the flat. Earlier, Banerjee had ordered to repair the two room flat where Bhattacharjee has been staying for more than three decades. She also offered Bhattacharjee to stay at a separate flat till the repairing was complete.
Banerjee had called on the former chief minister when he fell sick in October 2017.
Bhattacharjee became unconscious at the party office on Alimuddin Street and was coughing heavily.
Banerjee had assured every medical assistance and was ready to shift him to SSKM hospital.
However, Bhattacharjee had refused to go to any hospital. Banerjee gave her personal phone number to Meera Bhattacharya and requested her to get in touch with her in case of any need.
For the past few years,
Bhattacharjee has not been keeping well.
He could not attend the Politburo meeting in Delhi on health grounds.
He also refused to remain in the party's central committee. Bhattacharjee suffers from Choric Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder ( COPD) and despite repeated requests from doctors, he refused to give up smoking. He had problems with his eyes and had been to Cuba over two decades ago for treatment.
