Mamata unveils JSW cement plant in Salboni

Kolkata: Inaugurating the JSW Group's cement plant at Salboni on Monday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated it to be a boost for the state's industry sector, a day ahead of the fourth edition of the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS).
Appreciating the steps taken up by the group that ensured completion of construction of the 2.4 MTPA cement plant before its scheduled time, the Chief Minister said there was a time when there was a perception that Bengal was not doing well.
"But now, people are saying that the state is doing good and I am really very happy," she said and in the same breath, appreciated the role played by local people in supporting the setting up of the industry.
She maintained that everyone should continue extending similar support in future as well, so that investors feel the place to be like their home. "We must consider them as our family members. How will the business grow if we do not help our family members?" she said, adding that they have ensured more investment taking place at Salboni.
At the same time, the JSW Group has really worked for the downtrodden people and Banerjee felt good knowing that the multi superspeciality hospital at Salboni will be run jointly by the group and the state government.
Stating that the society grows when both industry and agriculture grow simultaneously, Banerjee said: "Bengal means business and we have become first in India in ease of doing business, skill development, small scale and e-tender."
"The state government has announced a Rs 12,000 crore investment for infrastructure development and the said investment is apart from the regular work that is going on for infrastructure development," she said.
In a benefits distribution programme of West Midnapore district that was also held on Monday, the Chief Minister announced that another 7,500 km of rural roads will be constructed and she will lay its foundation stone in Nadia on February 2.
It may be recalled that earlier, Banerjee had laid the foundation stone for construction of 18,500 km of rural roads. She also announced that on January 29, she will be handing over the benefits under Bangla Abas Yojona to 5 lakh people from Netaji Indoor Stadium.
With such a huge work of infrastructure development being carried out in the state, the Chief Minister assured that cement of JSW Group can be used for building the projects.
