Mamata to unveil state emblem at Nabanna today

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be unveiling the state emblem on Friday at Nabanna after it was approved by the Centre.
On Wednesday, the state government received a communique that the Centre has approved the state's symbol which the Chief Minister had designed. It was sent to the Centre for its approval in May 2017 following the nod given by the Cabinet.
The preparations at the main entrance of Nabanna, the state Secretariat, was going on in full swing on Thursday as the place has been chosen as the spot to organise the programme where the Chief Minister will be unveiling the state emblem. The programme is going to be held at 2.30 pm.
Soon after getting the information, it was decided that the Chief Minister will introduce the state emblem on Friday after returning from her district tour.
It is learnt that senior ministers of her cabinet and senior officials of the state government will be present at the programme that will mark the formal introduction of state emblem.
After getting introduced, the emblem will be used in all documents of the state government and it would give a separate identity to Bengal.
It may be recalled that Mamata Banerjee displayed the design of state's symbol in public in May 2017 when it was sent to the Centre for its approval. It was sent to Delhi after being approved by a committee headed by eminent artist Jogen Chowdhury.
