Mamata is our supreme leader: Subhrangshu Roy

Kolkata: Subhrangshu Roy, son of Mukul Roy on Monday expressed his unquestioned allegiance to Mamata Banerjee and said she is the only leader of the party and no other leader is important.

The Trinamool Congress MLA from Bijpur in North 24 Parganas, said:

"Mamata Banerjee is the supreme leader of the party and nobody else is important. Mamata Banerjee says the final word and no other leader is more important than her," Subhrangshu said on Monday morning while taking part in a party meeting.

Bengal Food and Supplies minister Jyotipriyo Mullick alleged that Mukul Roy used to pass on vital information on internal affairs of Trinamool to rival parties.

Subhranshu distanced himself from his father on September 25 after Mukul Roy announced his decision to resign from the party and the Rajya Sabha.

Political experts said Subhrangshu's comment is very significant as Mukul Roy is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party within the next couple of days.

They said Subhrangshu had expressed his happiness when Mukul Roy came back to the party after a gap of nearly one year and was made the vice-president.

Subhrahgshu did not make any comment when Mukul resigned from Rajya Sabha and the primary membership of the Trinamool Congress.
