Mamata inaugurates Durga Puja pandals

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday slammed the BJP without taking name for indulging in conspiracy to create riots in Bengal. Inaugurating the Suruchi Sangha Puja in New Alipore, Banerjee said: "They may conspire for creating divisions among people in the name of religion and thus create riots but the soil of Bengal cannot be disturbed. We are proud to be born here and will continue to do so."
In a stern warning to those who are trying to foment riot, the Chief Minister made it clear that the administration will take stern action against those who will attempt to spread canards through social media. She urged the puja committees to counter such canards through social media and deliver the message to the people of the state that Bengal is not a place of turbulence or ditrubance. "You should tell people urging them that they should not take things for granted if somebody attempts to tarnish the image of Bengal in this manner," Banerjee said assuring full support from the administration to ensure peace and harmony during the Pujas.
Banerjee lauded the efforts of Suruchi Sangha for glorifying the Under 17 World Cup tournament scheduled to be held in October through their theme. Kolkata will host ten matches of the Under 17 World Cup.
Apart from Suruchi Sangha, Banerjee on Saturday inaugurated a number of pujas like Alipur Sabojonin, Alapi, Kolahol, 24 Pally, Akalbodhon etc.
She reiterated that Durga Puja is a festival of co-operation, peace and happiness and urged everybody to maintain peace and harmony.
