Mamata felicitates Madrassa toppers

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee felicitated toppers of Alim, Fazil and High Madrassa in Nabanna on Tuesday.

Chief Minister posted on Facebook: "I had a very pleasant experience interacting with the toppers of Alim, Fazil and High Madrassa Examinations, 2018, at Nabanna today."

"It was indeed a great pleasure for me to know that many of these young students aspire to become doctors, engineers, teachers or join government service as members of IAS, IPS, WBCS and WBPS. My best wishes to all of them, to their parents, to their teachers and well wishers," she wrote.

Twenty one toppers were felicitated on Tuesday and it includes 18 boys. All the students have received books, laptop, wristwatch and a set of pens.

The state Panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee, the state Urban Development and Municipal Affairs minister Firhad Hakim, the state Library minister Siddiqullah Choudhury, the state Disaster Management and Civil Defence minister Javed Khan and senior officials including Chief Secretary Malay De, were present in the meeting.

The Chief Minister assured all support to the students to continue with their higher studies. It has been learnt that she has also directed the ministers and concerned officials to take care so that none of the students should face any problem in continuing their studies for financial constraint, as the present state government is committed to ensure education for all.

The students were also elated to meet the Chief Minister and each of them has conveyed their ambitions to her.

A section of them aspire to be doctors, engineers and teachers, while there are also some who want to pursue civic service. Some of the students have also shown interest in becoming police officers as well.

It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister has taken several steps for development of the minority communities. It may be recalled that in 2010-11, the budget of the state government for the state Minority Affairs and Madrassa Education department was only Rs 400 crore.

At present, the same has gone up to Rs 3,700 crore and it has ensured massive development. Facilities have been improved so that students can undertake training on computers.

The felicitation will motivate the students to continue with their higher studies and in fulfilling their dreams.

On Monday, the Chief Minister felicitated 248 toppers of Madhyamik, Higher Secondary, ICSE, ISC, CBSE and WBJEE.
