Malda station gets cleanest and best maintained tag

Kolkata: Eastern Railway's (ER) Malda station has been adjudged the cleanest best maintained and clean station.

The Malda Town railway station or Malda railway station is situated at A B A Ghani Khan Choudhury Sarani, English Bazar, West Bengal. It is controlled by ER and is amongst the top hundred stations of Indian Railway.

The Malda railway station has bagged the cleanest best maintained and clean station tag after qualifying the different criteria such as beatification, maintenance and passenger amenities.

To maintain ecological balance and create a green environment, a garden is being developed outside the station building.

The outside station building is also illuminated in a grand way with dazzling LED lights.

Ensuring clean environment, a garbage disposal system has been developed to remove accumulated garbage from nominated vats which is around 2.83 cubic metre per day.

To mitigate passengers' complaints regarding shortage of water in train coaches, high pressure coach watering system has been developed at Malda Town and Bhagalpur stations so that a 24-coach train can be filled up with water in just six minutes and multiple trains can also be filled with water simultaneously.

This apart, 20 wooden vintage type chairs as additional sitting arrangement and plastic bottle crushing machine have also been installed at Malda station.
