MAKAUT starts 25 professional courses from this year

Kolkata: In a bid to ensure employability for its students after they pass out from the engineering colleges, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) is introducing as many as 25 professional courses from this academic year.
"We are constantly upgrading our existing curriculum according to the demands of the industry to ensure employability for the students. All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has urged all universities across the country to frame its curriculum in a manner so that it keeps pace with the changing times and we are leaving no stones unturned. As many as 25 new courses are being introduced from this academic year," Vice-Chancellor of MAKAUT, Salkat Maitra, said at a press conference in the city which was convened by Association of Professional Academic Institutions (APAI), Bengal, to announce the dates of three day pre-counseling fairs and seminars at Netaji Indoor Stadium from June 5 to 7.
It may be mentioned that MAKAUT presently has around 90 engineering colleges and 110 professional colleges across the state affiliated to it. "The new professional courses have been designed in consultation with the Chambers of Commerce based nationally as well as at the state level. The emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber Security and Blockchain will have huge employability potential in the days to come. Our students should be ready for this," Maitra maintained. Real Estate Management, Data Science, Culinary Science are some of the courses that will be introduced.
Satyam Roy Chowdhury, secretary, APAI, said the pre-counselling fair is aimed at motivating the students to remain in the state and pursue their higher education within the state. A number of private engineering and management colleges across the state will be present at the three-day fair.
The three-day fair will also have a special lucky draw event in which 25 students per day will be awarded Rs 20,000 each. They will be handed over this amount as soon as they seek admission to the engineering or management institution under APAI.
