Light rain soaks city, more to follow in 48 hrs

Kolkata: Light rain lashed the city and some South Bengal districts on Sunday afternoon and more rainfall has been predicted in South Bengal districts in the next 48 hours.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore on Sunday predicted that there may be more rainfall in the city and other South Bengal districts in the next two days, due to the possible formation of a low pressure trough in the state.

A low pressure trough is likely to be formed over Bay of Bengal resulting in more rainfall in the state. A strong breeze measuring around 45 km per hour would be sweeping through the coastal districts of South 24-Parganas and East Midnapore.

The fishermen in the coastal districts have been asked not to venture into the sea as it is likely to remain turbulent in the next 48 hours. The weather office also said that it would start raining in the North Bengal districts from next Tuesday.
