LF's Coordination committee clash with police, 1 officer injured

Kolkata: The Coordination committee's agitation in Bikash Bhavan to protest against date extension of pay commission turned ugly when they clashed with police personnel and injured one officer badly.
Divided into two groups, the members of the Co-ordination committee, a trade union wing of the Left Front, were marching towards the Bikash Bhawan to submit a deputation to the Pay Commission officials. The Officer-in-Charge of the Cyber Crime police station in Bidhannagar received head injuries when they attacked the police personnel. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The members of the Coordination committee started marching towards the Bikash Bahwan area from Thursday morning to protest against the extension of the last date of the Seventh Pay Commission. The agitators started the rally from Karunamoyee area with an intention of putting up demonstration in front of the Bikash Bhawan. When they reached Mayukh Bhawan, the police stopped the rally as they had put up barricade there.
The agitators staged demonstration in front of the Mayukh Bhawan. This led to a scuffle between the protestors and the police.
An irate mob the attacked the police, beat them up where a police officer was seriously injured.
Another rally coming from Bidhannagar almost reached Bikash Bhawan area as some of the leaders of the Coordination committee wanted to meet the Pay Commission officials.
They wanted to advance towards the Bikash Bhawan after breaking the police barricade. A scuffle broke out between the police personnel and the agitators. The area soon turned into a battlefield triggering tension among the other employees of various houses situated at Bikash Bhawan. Senior police officers tried to pacify the mob but the agitators tried to enter into Bikash Bhawan premises.
The agitators attacked the police and the officer received injuries on his forehead. A huge contingent of police force rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
