Kolkata Traffic Police to rope in celebrities for short films

The Kolkata Traffic Police has decided to prepare short films featuring celebrities of the city to create awareness among people on road safety.

According to a senior officer of the Kolkata Police's traffic department, they have also decided to request celebrities from the state to be a part of the road safety week. When asked that what would be the role of the celebrities in the road safety campaign, the officer said that they will be featured in short films that will be shown at different places.

It may be mentioned that actors from Tollywood including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Koyel Mallick, Payel Sarkar and Abir Chatterjee attended the closing ceremony of the Road Safety Week organised by the Kolkata Traffic Police. They had urged the gathering including children from different schools to be aware of the road safety norms and also to ask their close ones to follow road safety norms.

Now, celebrities from different walks of fine arts and sports is expected to create awareness through short films in which they would be featured.

Though the senior officers refused to disclose the names of the celebrities who will be featured in the short films, he confirmed that if everything goes well, the work to make the short films would start soon as they don't want to give much gap between the recently concluded Road Safety Week and the campaign through short films.

The officer said it is expected that it will be more acceptable to the people if celebrities urge them to follow road safety norms. It may be played at different locations like Metro stations.

It may be mentioned that the Kolkata Traffic Police has also organised a short-film competition under its project Jaaago to create awareness about road accidents.
