Kolkata Port Trust awards best performers

Kolkata: Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) organised Trade Facilitation awards where the best performers in the field of trade and shipping were awarded.

The best performers of both Kolkata Dock System and Haldia Dock Complex were handed over prizes. The awards were presented by KoPT chairman Vinit Kumar in presence of senior officials of KoPT. Ek Narayan Aryal, Consul General Nepal in Kolkata graced the occasion as a special guest.

Steel Authority of India, TATA Steel were awarded as the top bulk importers whereas Krishna Tissues Pvt Ltd and Vedanta Ltd were given awards as top performing importer and exporter of containers.

Xpress Feeders were awarded for bringing in the maximum number of container ships. Haldia International Container Terminal Limited won the award for the Best Container Terminal in KoPT.

Kolkata Port Trust including Kolkata Dock System and Haldia Dock Complex, achieved its highest ever cargo throughput in the fiscal 2018-19. Kolkata Port has handled 63.7 Million Tons (MT) of cargo traffic in 2018-19 compared to 57.9 MT in 2017-18 recording an impressive growth of over 10 percent. KoPT is now ranked 5th largest port in terms of cargo handling among all major ports and is the second fastest growing port in the country.
