Kolkata Police busts fake passport racket, 9 held

Kolkata: Kolkata police have arrested 9 persons including two Bangladeshi nationals from different places of the city and Burdwan for their alleged involvement in operating a fake passport racket.
Police said one of the key accused, Kartik Naskar who has been arrested opened a passport and Visa office on SN Banerjee road. They were providing tourist Visa to youth seeking jobs.
In the course of investigation, it was found that many Bangladeshi youth were coming to the city and later going abroad with tourist Visas.
An organisation had been helping them in getting job.
Senior police officers divided in two teams raided Ketugram in Burdwan and Ripon Street area and arrested the accused.
One of the kingpins, Seikh Jahangir was arrested from a house in Ketugram where the police raided on Monday night.
In another development, police arrested four persons from a house on Ripon Street.
They are identified as Md Nasirullah, Sanjay Prasad, Seikh Safikullah and Wasim.
Cops also arrested two Bangladeshi nationals - Malik Hossain and Mahiruddin Mollah from the office of the organisation.
Many fake documents and passports were recovered from the office of the organisation.
Few Bangladeshi currency notes were also found in the office.
In the interrogation, the investigators came to know that Visas were provided to some Bangladeshi nationals who were going to various European countries.
They did not get visas from their country. Police are also investigating if the accused had provided visas to those who are involved in anti national activities.
They are investigating if the accused used to supply these fake documents to customers from other states.
