Kolkata architect arrested in drug peddling case

Kolkata: The Narcotics Control Bureau on Tuesday said they have arrested an architect-engineer from the city for allegedly working as a middle-man and liaison in a drug-peddling racket here, that was busted in December last year.
"Rhythm Das, an architect-engineer based in Kolkata has been arrested for allegedly assisting a city-based drug-peddling unit in financial transactions and procuring drugs from other cities on behalf of them.
"He also ordered drugs like MDMA (Ecstasy) through the dark web using Bitcoin," NCB Kolkata Zonal unit head, Dilip Kumar Srivastava said in a release.
The officer said one of the two drug peddlers named Niloy Ghosh, arrested earlier in this case, used to place orders through Das' bank account and buy drugs through him.
"Niloy Ghosh had purchased the consignments through Das since last six months of his arrest," he said.
The officer revealed that they have got information on frequent consumption of drugs like MDMA and LSD by various students in a prominent Karnataka college which is supplied to them by foreign tourists in Goa.
The NCB officials arrested Niloy Ghosh and Jerome Watson for drug peddling in various parties and colleges in the city in December last year and seized 148 LSD blots and more than 26 grams of MDMA from them.
