Kolkata airport asks passengers to check-in 3 hours before departure

Kolkata: The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport in Kolkata has issued a directive requesting all passengers to report three hours prior to their scheduled flight departure. The directive will be effective till August 20 for all passengers taking domestic and international flights from the city airport.

"This is in view of the increased security measures due to the forthcoming Independence Day. There will be special security screening for all passengers. We are requesting all passengers to cooperate with us," a spokesperson of NSCBI airport said. "We want an absolute through checking process to ensure that no unfortunate incident takes place, especially with Independence Day celebrations around the corner. The high-alert period has started from Friday and will be prevalent till August 20," a senior CISF official said. CISF and airport authorities are also on security alert for incoming flights and have requested passengers to report on time to avoid confusion.
