Power minister inaugurates 800 KV sub-station in Hooghly

State Power minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay on Monday inaugurated a 800 KV power sub-station at New Chanditala area if Hooghly.
He also planted two saplings inside the compound of the power sub-station as a part of the state government's green movement.
This newly-inaugurated sub-station will function as a power bank as it would house power and distribute to other stations as per the requirement. The state Power department has undertaken a huge project in which the department will set up many more sub-station at various parts of the state through phases.
The Power department has a plan to set up more than 200 sub-stations in next few years to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the remote villages where low voltage is still a serious problem.
A senior official of the state Power department said that low voltage incidents in many areas are caused by power thefts and the state government is taking up various measures to check the incidents. Awareness campaigns are being carried out by the department at various places to make people aware about the matter. At the same time, government has given stress on setting up of more sub-stations to ensure that there is no incident of low voltage, the official said.
