Student drowns in river while bathing with brothers

A hotel management student drowned in river Damodar when he went to bathe. He was missing since the incident took place on Monday afternoon.

The villagers informed the police that the victim, Tuhin Kolo (21) went for a bath along with his two brothers without informing other family members that they were going to the river. Initially, they started fishing with the help of a large fishing net and then they started bathing. "The youth drowned in the river accidentally. His brothers desperately tried to save him but could not do it at last," an eyewitness reportedly informed the police. A complaint was lodged at a nearby police station by one of the family members. The investigators found bicycles, bags, and a net lying on the river bank. But the body of the victim boy was missing till late on Monday night.

The family of the victim identified Tuhin's bag and other things. The family members said Tuhin and his brothers went in the morning but did not return. They did not have any clue that where they had gone. Later, police informed them about the incident. A similar incident was recorded last year as well. Four students of B C Roy Engineering College, Durgapur also went missing when they went to take a bath in Ajay river. Two students drowned but one was rescued by the locals when they heard his cries for help.
