Transformer catches fire in Howrah

Tension ran high at Chatterjee Hat area of Howrah when an electrical transformer situated in the area caught fire.

The local residents later damaged a CESC vehicle alleging that CESC employees reached the spot late despite repeated phone calls made by the local residents.

The local people also staged a demonstration in front of the policemen who rushed to the spot immediately after the incident.

The local residents found that a transformer had caught a fire a little after Wednesday midnight. They informed the matter to the fire brigade and also the CESC. Two fire

tenders extinguished the fire after two hours.
