Fake doctor got loan worth Rs 1 crore from pvt bank, says CID

Using his "influence", arrested fake medical practitioner, Naren Pandey, had recently got a loan worth Rs 1 crore approved from a private bank. He had also declared his wife as a homeopathic doctor to get some "special" permission to run a pathological laboratory.

This startling truth has come to light after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sleuths went through various documents after his arrest. According to a CID officer, "loan was passed without proper verification."

Pandey has been interrogated repeatedly in Bhawani Bhavan since Friday night and he has been interrogated on Sunday as well during which the CID officers tried to know the purpose of taking the loan as the investigating officers suspect that he had plans to expand his "business" of conducting pathological tests.

CID is likely to interrogate the officials of the private bank who had allegedly helped him get the loan. The interrogation would be essential to verify the claim of Pandey on the purpose of taking the money from the private bank.

CID officers have also unearthed the fact that Pandey had introduced his wife Praveen Pandey as a homeopathic doctor. Though she doesn't possess such a degree, Praveen has not been arrested yet as she is not engaged in any private practice. The officers of the Special Operation Group (SOG) have found a document in which Praveen has been introduced as a doctor holding Bachelors Degree in Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery (BHMS). She has already been interrogated after the arrest of her husband. During interrogation, Praveen told the officials that she was not directly involved in these acts and it was her husband who had introduced her as a BHMS doctor for getting permissions of some sort.

The CID officers have seized several documents of the pathological lab set up by Pandey to ascertain whether he has any permission to run it and if he had actually taken any permission then to run it with fake documents.

The officers have also heard about Pandey's close association with a senior state INTUC leader and they are trying to find out whether the leader had used his political connection to get the "fake doctor" an opportunity to practice in Belle Vue Clinic where he had started work since May 1, 2004. The officers are looking into the matter. "We have interrogated Pandey on Sunday as well and got names of some more people who will be interrogated. Their interrogation may start on Monday itself," the officer said.
