KMC to organise workshop on dengue prevention

Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will organise a workshop on the prevention of vector borne diseases at Rabindra Sadan.
Mayor Sovan Chatterjee will inaugurate the workshop while Chandrima Bhattacharya, minister of state for health will be the chief guest.
The workshop will be held on 28 April from 12 pm to 3pm.
Atin Ghosh, Mayor-in Council (health) said doctors of state-run hospitals, primary care physicians, doctors of private hospitals and nursing homes, medical officers, senior KMC officials of health department and all ward councilors will attend the workshop.
It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked all the civic bodies, municipalities and panchayats to take steps to prevent dengue. In all the administrative review meetings held in the districts, she has said over and again that the civic bodies should take steps to keep the areas under their jurisdiction clean.
She said drives against Dengue should be carried out throughout the year.
The state government has given Rs 4 crore to the KMC to procure instruments and launch campaign to create awareness against Dengue.
Ghosh said as the breeding pattern of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes have changed due to global warming, KMC is carrying out drives to prevent Dengue throughout the years. Debashis Biswas, chief vector control officer said to combat Dengue, the people should be aware and active.
There will be a panel discussion on Dengue prevention.
