KMC declares results of contractual teacher test

Kolkata: The results of the written examination for the recruitment of 100 contractual teachers in schools under Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) was declared on Tuesday. The written examination was held on December 31 last year.
"329 candidates will be called for the interview and the final 100 will be selected in the ratio of 3:1, which is the standard process followed," Member, Mayor-in-Council (Education) Avijit Mukherjee said. The results were made available at the website of KMC from 4 pm.
It may be mentioned that the total number of eligible candidates for the examination was 17,133, among which 9,033 had appeared for the examination. The 329 candidates will be sent SMS alerts on their mobile phones by February 8, informing them that they are eligible to appear for the interview.
"We will ensure that SMS reaches all candidates and then we will announce the dates of the interview," a senior official of KMC Education department said.
KMC had received 18,198 applications in this regard. Examinations were held in as many as 17 centres in the city, that included South City College, Maulana Azad College, Basanti Devi College, Bangabasi College, Tirthapati Institution and Gurudas College to name a few.
Mayor Sovan Chatterjee had instructed the Education department to speed up the process of recruiting contractual teachers, as a number of teaching posts were lying vacant.
