KMC announces recipients of Kolkata Shree Awards

Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Friday announced the name of Puja committees that will be the recipients of Kolkata Shree Awards 2019. Prizes are given every year to the

best Pujas in the city by the civic body.

Mayor Firhad Hakim along with Member, Mayor-in-Council (Parks and Gardens) Debasish Kumar read out the names of the community Pujas, who will be receiving the awards at a function organised by the KMC, soon after the Puja. The Kolkata Shree awards are being given since 2010 after the Trinamool Congress board assumed charge of the KMC.

"There were 400 applications for the awards out of which 99 puja committees are being awarded. Apart from various categories, a total of 63 awards are Mayor's Choice Awards," Kumar said. Mayor said there is 100 percent transparency in awarding community Pujas.

The panel of judges include noted personalities from different fields such as Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Dola Banerjee, Ajoy Chakrabarty, Pranati Thakur, Dona Ganguly. The nine other categories in which prizes were announced includes 'Serar Sera', 'Serar Pujo', 'Sera Pratima', 'Sera Sailpik Utkorsho', 'Sera Bishoy', 'Sera Aloksajja', 'Sera Paribesh', 'Sera Parichanna Pujo', and 'Sera Sambhabana'

The Pujas that won in the category of 'Serar Sera' are Suruchi Sangha, Naktala Udayan Sangha, Tala Park Prattoy and S.B Park Thakurpukur.

In the 'Serar Pujo' category, the winners were Kashi Bose Lane, Rajdanga Nabauday Sangha, Samaj Sebi Sangha and Hatibagan Sarbojanin.

The awards for Sera Pratima have given to Ajeya Sanghati, Chakraberia Sarbojonin, Gouribari Sarbojonin and Barisha Club.

The awards for 'Sera Sailpik Utkorsho' category

have been bagged by Avenue South, 41 Pally Club, Kalighat Milan Sangha and Ballygunge Cultural.

In the 'Sera Bishoy' category prizes were announced for Abasar Sarbojonin, Gariahat Hindustan Club, North Tridhara and Hazra Park while

Sera Aloksojjya (Lighting) has gone to Ekdalia Evergreen, 25 Pally Sarbojonin, Chalta Bagan and Hindushtan Park Sarbojonin.

The Sera Paribesh award was given to Beleghata 33 Pally, Bosepukur Sitala Mandir , Alipore Sarbojonin and Daskshin Kolkata Sarbojonin while the Sera Porichhanna Puja awards' recipients were 66 Pally Club, Bakul Bagan Sarbojonin, Jodhpur Park and Shib Mandir, Mudiali Club, 21 Pally, Golmath Durga Puja Samity and Baghajatin B and C Block.

"For the Mayor's Choice award, the Mayor himself will visit several pandals during the Puja days. This is a category in which Puja committees are not required to send applications," said Kumar.
