Kin alleges medical negligence after woman's death

Kolkata: In another incident of alleged medical negligence in the state, a woman died some hours after she gave birth to a boy child.
The victim, a resident of Palashiya area of Chandrakona in West Midnapore was admitted to the Chandrakona primary health centre last week after she felt labour pain. The woman later gave birth to a baby boy.
The family members of the victim claimed after the delivery, both the mother and her child were in stable conditions. They also alleged that patient died while undergoing ligation at the primary health centre.
They alleged that there was negligence on the part of doctors and nursing staff members of the primary health which resulted in the death of the patient. They also alleged that the doctors in the hospital never told the family members about the operation. Without taking their consent, the doctors operated on the patient. The child is, however, in good health.
The family members of the victim said that no hospital authorities can conduct ligation surgery of a patient without the consent from her family. An agitated mob on Sunday morning staged demonstration inside the compound of the primary health centre. The victim's family members demanded strong action against those who will be found guilty in this connection.
