Kolkata: Children accompanying their mothers who are serving terms in different correctional homes will be taught poems written by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Various NGOs that have been entrusted with teaching the children have recently taken this decision. The NGOs found that the poems written by Banerjee will help in the mental growth of the children. Also, it will help them to pick up Bengali language fast. It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister has over and again said that it is essential to learn Bengali. She also urged the authorities of English medium schools to teach Bengali to their students.
The children accompanying their mothers in Alipore and Dum Dum Correctional homes will be first taught the poems written by Banerjee. Kathanjali, a collection of poems written by Banerjee has become popular among the children. On the day of Poila Baishak (first day of the month of Baishak), 45 poems written by Banerjee were published. First these poems will be taught to the children in the two correctional homes and later they will be taught to children in other correctional homes too.
