Kerala case: Family says it's murder

Bankura: Family members of the labourer from Bengal, who was found dead in Kerala, claimed that he was murdered and did not commit suicide as said by the police of the southern state.
Forensic examination of the body of Hemanta Roy Bagdi, an electrician working in Alappuzha district of Kerala, would be conducted after it arrives here on Wednesday or Thursday, the police here said.
The incident came shortly after another labourer from Bengal was hacked and burnt to death in Rajasthan.
Hemanta was found dead with his throat slit in the toilet of the house where he was staying at Pannvally under Poochhakkahl police station on December 10, Bankura SP Sukhendu Heera said.
Bankura police also talked over phone to people who had been working with Hemanta and they too said he killed himself with a knife which has been recovered.
Though the local police authorities in Kerala said after post-mortem examination that he committed suicide, his family members are not convinced and alleged he was murdered, Heera said.
He said Hemanta's father Ananda Roy Bagdi was of the opinion that his son was murdered but did not know the reason.
Sub-divisional Police Officer of Bishnupur S K Das said forensic examination of the body would be conducted after its arrival from Kerala.
Hemanta, a resident of Roll village under Indas police station in Bankura district, had gone to Kerala in search of a job in September.
He was married and had a 6-month-old daughter. Agencies
