Kargil war veteran, 2 others join Trinamool Congress

Kolkata: A Kargil war veteran; Colonel Diptanshu Chaudhary (Retd) joined the Trinamool Congress on Saturday. He was handed over the TMC party flag by party secretary general Partha Chatterjee at the TMC party office.
Chaudhary, known for his skills in information technology, had joined the BJP only in March 2016. Chaudhary had been a BJP candidate from the coal belt of Asansol South constituency during the 2016 Assembly elections and was also the convenor of the saffron party. "He had expressed his desire to work with the Trinamool Congress and be a part of the development of Bengal under the leadership of our supremo Mamata Banerjee. His experience in the field of IT will be of great help to us," Chatterjee said while handing over the TMC flag to Chaudhary.
Apart from Chaudhary, financial and business adviser Suparno Moitra also joined Trinamool Congress.
The former Army officer was among those who were deployed in the Kargil War from the first day to the last.
It may be mentioned that Moitra, on the other hand, was earlier associated with leading business chambers like Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BNCCI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and also served as the regional director (East) of Nasscom. "We will be remodeling our intellectual cell and the experience of Moitra will be important. His experience in the industry level will also benefit us," Chatterjee said.
The third joinee was Sonali Singha Roy, sister of Congress leader Mrinal Singha Roy, of Kanchrapara in the North 24-Parganas.
